Bard’s Tale Beer Dragon’s Gold

Nothing like a cold one on a Friday afternoon after a really long week of work. I think all in the office agreed that this week was pretty nasty, so we decided to end it up right with some new beer tasting. Your and my friend Po will post some pics later, but needless to say Bard’s Tale Beer Dragon’s Gold is worth talking about.
For those of you that are giant ass geeks like us, you would probably pick this up just because of its references to the video games by the same name, Bard’s Tale (1985 & 2004). Because of this, we had high hopes… but little did we see that this was some weird spin on the normal beer and it is made of sorghum, which is some non-standard plant used for making beer and other alcohol.
So… how does it taste? It wasn’t bad but it wasn’t good. If it weren’t for some funky aftertaste and the fact that there was a hint of just not right, this wouldn’t have been bad. Overall, cool package, cool label, slightly below-average beer.
Po… you have anything to add?
**UPDATE** I have a bit better impression of this beer now… not because it is tasty or anything, but because my coeliac neighbor actually was able to enjoy beer for the first time in nearly 7 years. I bought him some at Malt & Vine last week (Jun ‘0
and brought it over for him. He thoroughly enjoyed it along with some from a Belgian brewery that escapes me right now. Anyhow… if you are coeliac or gluten free, this beer may be for you!
