I first tasted Moose Drool over at the Tap House Grill in Bellevue, where I managed to slup my way through six or seven different beers in the course of an hour and where, I’m afraid to say, it lodged in my mind mainly because of it’s faintly revolting name.
When I saw it in Trader Joe’s last wekeend, I knew I had to have another bash - and as the handy six-pack was on special, it would have been churlish to refuse. Wanting to give no man a reason to call me “churl”, I took some home. Where I proceeded to drink almost all of it.
Good beer. Not amazing, outstanding or wonderful beer, but good in a solid, honest, long-legged, slightly stupid kind of way. Brown as a nut, with a milk-chocolate head and an honest earthy taste with just enough hops to stay bitter and a hint of malt, this has been my beer of the week - I keep going back to get more, and I think this’ll be one of the staples of the summer.
Thanks Big Sky Brewing, you’re my new regular thing!

Things shouldn’t still be spinning, but unforntunately, that is kind of where we are at. This post didn’t happen last night do to an impromptu get-together with some neighbors and way too much alcohol.
What I do remember is that this BridgePort’s Beer Town Brown was the beer to kick it all off and, quite honestly, not the best choice I could have gone with. While I do generally like the brown ale category, this one dissappointed me. Primarily because there was no distinguishing flavor. It almost tasted like a watered down version of a regular brown ale, which just isn’t cool.
Now, my neighbor Dave said it wasn’t that bad, but hey… to each his or her own, right?

I have been here… really… Newcastle, UK. About two years ago we took a business trip out that way. All I really remember was another traveling Dug dancing step for step straight out of Footloose and some mechanical bull…
Now, for the beer… what sweet nectar this Newcastle Brown Ale. I am surprised I didn’t have any of this so I could have at it in its natural habitat… ah well. Next time for sure. This is a really good brown ale. Rolls down the tongue nice and smooth, refreshing all the way. Perfect for after a long day in a conference room with no windows and no fresh air… ugh.

Been a long day. No mug. No long and drawn out explanation. Just one beer and my thoughts…
Deschutes Brewery Buzzsaw Brown Seasonal Ale is hard to put a finger on. While it tastes pretty good, it has something about it that seems just a little off. Another drink… yep… something not quite right.
It tastes fine in the mouth, but there is a bit of an aftertaste that throws me off. Hard to describe, but something almost chemical… maybe I should have had it out of the mug after all.
I am generally a big fan of Deschutes but this one won’t be purchased again.
