Tap Room No. 21 Moe’s Backroom Amber Ale
Posted by dugpark on February 17, 2008
I have moved past my guilt… I am no longer going to beat myself up for buying one bottle from a six pack at the grocery store. Why, you may ask? Because it is for the greater good. I can’t keep up with the blog if I have to buy a six pack everytime I want to try a new beer. It just doesn’t work for me. I can’t drink a six pack a night… ok… yes I can, but I really am trying to watch my figure.
So… wandering through Fred Meyer again tonight, stocking up on beer for the week, and I pass by one of the most hit beer brands on our site… Tap Room No. 21. I tried the Tap Room No. 21 Moe’s Backroom Lager on new year’s day and didn’t rate it very favorably… but, since there must be a lot of interest for the brewery, I thought I would try a different variety and ended up with Tap Room No. 21 Moe’s Backroom Amber Ale.
I have to say… I just don’t know what it is that is wrong with this beer, but something isn’t right. There are a lot of good amber beers out there and this isn’t even in the same ballpark… the same sport. I am drinking out of the bottle because I don’t want to dirty another glass, but that shouldn’t have too much to do with it. At the end of the day, it just tastes cheap. It tastes like an off macro brew that is trying really hard to be a good little amber beer. At $1.09 and 5.7% alcohol, I can see how it would be appealing, but my advice to you is don’t do it. Try a good amber… there are plenty out there.
