Coming up on the final beer tasted while in Utah/Idaho and finally getting to the best beer we had on the trip, Uinta Anniversary Barley Wine Ale comes to us with a whopping 10.4% ABV (the highest I have tasted from that sad state). Picked this one up at the Liquor Store, as well… this was fine, fine brewing. Thanks Uinta!
The pour is dark amber with a high and tight head, long lasting and meaning business. The nose is sweet and malty with a definte hop offset… good balance. The body, also balanced, comes smooth with the hops hitting first at the front of the mouth and the sweet malt finish coming through at the back. The finish is slightly bitter with the hops but doesn’t keep long enough to be offputting. All in all, this was a great little barley wine and one that I will look for when I am there again next year!
