Blue Moon Honey Moon

Posted by dugpark on May 11, 2009

Blue Moon continues to interest me… it is one of those big macro companies trying to sell like the small guy but they actually pull it off now and again.  This is one of those instances.

Blue Moon Honey Moon is a light summer yellow brew with snow white frothy head. The body is definitely light with a crisp malt finish… you get a nice, slightly sweet finish with hints of honey and orange lingering just long enough to say hello but not long enought to wear out their welcome.  5.6% ABV.

This is going to be a great summer brew that I actually know I will pick up again… go figure. :)

Sierra Nevada Pale Ale

Posted by dugpark on March 22, 2008

Beer number three on this blog (meaning types, not bottles :) ) from our friends at Sierra Nevada Brewery.  Sierra Nevada Pale Ale comes into its own as a solid choice in the category.  Granted, I have had about 4 Widmer Hefeweizens tonight, but I don’t think that is impairing my judgement as much as it would be my eyesight… I know this is good stuff since we had a few the other night on Po’s deck and then I had another one the other night just because.  A good beer with a strength that belies its label and sneaks up on you as you are sitting harmlessly on the porch.  Plenty of tasty hops and enough bitterness to let you know you are drinking real beer.  This is a good choice all year round.  Clean and refreshing on a warm summer day, but strong and warming if it is a bit chilly or wet outside.

Pyramid Apricot Weizen

Posted by dugpark on March 11, 2008

Short and sweet tonight, folks… :)  Too much time catching up on email has left me tired and short winded.

Pyramid Apricot Weizen was on the list, chosen by my daughter, thank you very much.  Clean pour with limited head but a really nice very-slightly-cloudy color to this fine brew.  Definite taste of the apricot but not overpowering in the least.  Super refreshing… super clean.  I will absolutely be buying this again in the summer months.  Sold!
